Natural Attraction Stacking, Part 4: False Time Constraints, Transitions and Naturalizing
By DJ Fuji

Hey guys,
Welcome to part 4 of the multi-part series on stacking. If you haven’t already done so, give parts 1-3 a read. This next section builds upon what we’ve talked about in those previous articles.
As a quick refresher, last time we talked about the critical tease element – how to do it, why it’s important, and why it works. By understanding the fundamentals behind the concepts, you can start to improvise in the field and actually create your own routines rather than relying entirely on someone else’s scripts.
Today we’re going to cover false time constraints, directive-transitions, and naturalizing. There’s a lot to cover so I’ll try to keep this as concise as possible.
False Time Constraints
First off, the false time constraints. Most people know what this is, but few do it correctly. Let’s break it down Barney-style.
The false time constraint, as its name implies, is a takeaway designed to alleviate concerns of “when is this guy going to leave” when approaching a “cold” set. It’s important for two reasons:
First, it buys you an extra 30 seconds of time. The first few minutes of a pickup is all about buying yourself more time. When you open, the opener you use is designed to buy you anywhere from 10 to 60 seconds. The tease buys you another 15 seconds. The false time constraint (FTC) buys you a few more. You’re buying yourself time in order to get more compliance. Compliance, remember, is the backbone of the game. It’s the most important aspect of the pickup.
The second reason is that it establishes the push-pull dynamic you’ll be using throughout the interaction. The “pull” is when you IOI her. The “push” is a figurative push off of you. It is an IOD or takeaway. The push-pull dynamic (popularized by Swinggcat) suspends the set or the target between hope and doubt. The ability to send these mixed messages is extremely powerful and results in a BT spike. The false time constraint is one form of IOD (indicator of disinterest) or takeaway. It projects non-neediness — and along with buying temperature (BT) spikes – a fear of loss.
“We want what we cannot have”
The verbals to the FTC are the easy part. Anything that verbally signals that you can’t stay will work. e.g.
“I can’t stay long, my friends are here…”
“I gotta get back to my friends in a sec…”
“I can only stay a second…”
“I’ve gotta go in a second … I have to take a GIANT dump…” (credit: Matador)
The important part is the body language. It’s a bit hard to describe in text so try to stay with me.
When you FTC, you need to make sure your body language is congruent with your verbals. In other words, if you verbally FTC and non-verbally say you’re going to be there a while, you end up with Mystery’s definition of incongruence.
The way to non-verbally FTC is to make your body language say “I have to go in a sec”. So when you say “I’m hanging with my friends so I can’t stay long…” you’ll want to lean slightly away from them, turn your body so that you’re not facing them head on, and gesture over your shoulder as if pointing to your imaginary “friends.” Obviously, this is much easier to demonstrate in person but you should get the idea. Women are much more sensitive to body language cues. She’ll feel a slight turn away much more powerfully than a man will.
Remember, the FTC is a TAKEAWAY. If they don’t buy it because your verbals are incongruent, it was a waste of time. As with anything else, your body language is actually more important than what you say.
Transitioning
If you’ll recall from the stacking structure in the previous segments, a directive-transition follows the FTC. This element is a compliment which smoothes the transition to attraction while directing the set on how to behave. It’s generally integrated into the same thought as the FTC when done in set.
Advanced Note: This follows the chase cycling model. The open is a directive on being friendly (“You guys seem fun, I had to come say hello”). The set responds (working), you reward with value (the tease). Then you do a takeaway (the FTC), and follow with a directive (the directive-transition).
The directive-transition is simply, “you guys are friendly” or “you guys are fun.” This positive observation works the same way a cold read does – it is a semi-truism which everyone wants to believe, so they alter their behavior to fit your statement. Integrated into the FTC, it sounds like this:
“I’ve gotta get going in a sec…my friends are here…but you guys are really fun.”
Or, if you’re ballsy like Matador: “I’ve gotta take a MASSIVE dump in like 2 minutes…but you guys are really friendly.”
Without this element, people start to wonder why you’re staying if your friends are waiting for you. It’s the same concept for why an indirect opinion opener needs a transition to regular conversation. If you’ve ever felt like the set is wondering why you’re talking to them, missing this transition might quite possibly be the reason.
Naturalizing
Despite what some people believe, the end goal of any school of pickup is to naturalize. To make your pickup seem indistinguishable from the best “naturals” out there. To make it seem as if you possess impeccable, god-given social calibration and charisma.
Unfortunately, there is no such thing. Impeccable social calibration and charisma come from field time, plain and simple. There is an element of natural talent, sure, but even the most natural players out there obtained their skill level primarily through field time. There is no magic pill to success. The process of naturalizing comes from doing the same thing thousands of times. This is why stacking is the fastest way to become a “natural.” Because you’re taking a few decades of experience that normally produces a natural, and compressing it into just a few years. The repetitive nature of stacking allows you to make faster and more accurate adjustments to your game.
We look at it like this. It takes somewhere around 3,000+ sets (on average) to achieve mastery in this skill set. Someone with a lot of natural talent might only take 1000 sets to get to the same level. And conversely, someone with zero natural talent might take 4,000 sets. The point is, field time is still king, and whether or not you have any natural talent, you end up at the same place with enough experience and improvement.
Note that I said “improvement.” The problem that I have with a lot of natural game advocates isn’t necessarily the things they teach. It’s their marketing. Their marketing is seductive. They tell you what you want to hear. They talk to that AFC inside of you that wants to believe that you’re bowing down to false gods and that you really had it all along and you just had to be yourself. You WANT to believe that. *I* want to believe that. But I know from experience that it’s not true. I can’t just “be myself.” If that was the case, I would have been successful as an AFC. I have to, as Style says, “be my BEST self.” In other words, I have to IMPROVE myself before I can BE myself.
That said, let’s say you practice “natural game.” There’s nothing wrong with this. In fact, I’ve spent months at a time practicing natural game in order to work on my improvisational abilities. So has Mehow. Most of our sets nowadays are heavily improvised. We throw in routines here and there but much of what we do is simply strong subcommunications — a result of massive field time and lots and lots of stacking. Stacking is what makes up for a lack of natural talent. Of course, the outcome is no different from any other guru out there, natural game or otherwise. In essence, we’ve all taken different paths to arrive at the same destination: Social mastery.
We don’t advocate any “one true way” method at the expense of ignoring everything else. Extremists on either end of the spectrum tend to shoot themselves in the foot. In pick up terms, the natural game student who practices nothing but “natural game” will take much longer to achieve mastery because he refuses to use the tools to accelerate his progress. And the “routine monkey” who refuses to learn how to improvise and solely relies on routines will also stagnate because he refuses to develop a well rounded skill set. In fact, someone once observed the best naturals and realized something: They use the same shtick over and over again. The same stories, the same sound bites, the same teases. In pickup terms, we call that a “routine.”
You probably see where this is going. Don’t be dogmatic about any particular style of game. Because they end up at the exact same place. It’s exactly why in our workshops, we teach everything. We give you improvisational exercises. Routine stacks. Storytelling theory. State alteration techniques. Free association drills. Fashion critiques, even. We even recommend learning from most of our competitors. Infield Insider is a great example of this. We’ve collected the world’s greatest pickup artists and asked them to not only talk the talk, but walk the walk and show us what they’re made of. Because in the end, we want to maximize your results in the shortest amount of time possible. And we’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen.
Stay tuned for our upcoming conclusion to Natural Stacking where we talk about contingencies, stacking in comfort and day game, and how to put it all together.

This is awesome material! I used to have debates on this very issue on RSD board, where everybody was chanting “natural, natural, natural game”!
But why then do they always rehearse their programs 10 times before recording them? I also gave “free flowing” talks which sucked, and then I learnt to rehearse, which made them so much better.
Not having stock material is a suicide, since lots of situations are too fast to be free flowing, and one must act quickly.

OK, so I’ve written my Mehow grounding story.
[quote]
When I was five I used to watch the dustbin lorry rumble down the street and munch up the trash, I was like ‘Wow that’s soooo cool!’.
Now, twenty years later, I feed that lorry, and get to press the big red munch button [high fives]‘

What do you think?
This is why people like JM.
Becuase the Mehow / MM model of comfort caters for professionals with glamourous, or nearly glam jobs.
I know that all the JM instructors are likely running around saying ‘I’m a social coach, have you seen Hitch?’
I know that’s ‘leader of men’, and chick crack.
I know that.
But at least Juggler’s method offers, in theory, something winning, for me, for comfort.

Just what I needed! A Breath of fresh air. Now lets go out in the field and use my paraphrase of what I learned,
1.) Opener- DELIVERY IS KEY, SMILE, be loud and clear, strong eye contact(look at her), lean back, kino right away, do not hesitate in approach
2.) Tease- have some thing to tease about, “You guys are so adorkable… you’re like my little sisters”
3.) FTC- “Hey I can only sec.. I have my friends waiting”
4.) Transition
5.) Natural game
Okay I’m stuck there, but thats enough for me to practice for now. GREAT JOB fuji

I’m not so sure how women respond to the “I’ve got to take a dump” comment, it may be a little bit of a turnoff to many women. However, the advice in this article is spot on. You say that you have got to run in a little bit, and have your body language reflect this … maybe glancing over your shoulder at the door, and act like you are torn, that you really need to go, but you can’t help but being drawn to her …

Correct me if I’m wrong… but something tells me that “pua’s” like this live “far” out of society… I mean… you go into a whole difernt dimension to get what? A girl??? And why is it that everything needs to be labeled? Natural game, routine game, indirect, direct game, I’ve even heard of drunk girl game!!!
I bought Tim’s ( My name as well lol ) Flawless Game and it was EXACTLY how you should be approaching. His 2 main things are: good whooh! state, and assertiveness, combined with playful teasing, roleplaying… etc. It takes 3,000 sets to achieve Social Mastery?!?!?!? what does social mastery mean anyways? You know why it takes 3,000? Because is sooo unnatural to spit out all these rehearsed stories.
I think instead of joining this PUA social cult you should, yes learn social skills and stories, etc. but instead see yourself as a “social artist”, because pick up artist means your all about the girls, live or die by them, and social artist to me means your just trying to become more interesting and persuasive as a person overall, which is what most people want…
P.S. You can approach all these 3,000 sets and achive “mastery” or whatever, but you still aren’t gonna get all the girls! So you don’t need no 3,000 sets… I think is to make themselves look cool somehow.

And to lazycat, there’s a difference between talking to a girl and doing a seminar my man! You can talk to a girl and just shoot the shit, banter, tell one or two funny stories, if you’re having a good time go to your place, give her a good massage and next thing you know your both waking up next to each other, and if the conversation goes wrong, no big deal, just on to the next girl…a SEMINAR, people fly to from all over the world, pay 1000’s of dollars to hear LIFE CHANGING information, then its sold as a course for hundreds of dollars… if THIS goes wrong, then ALOT of people will be affected by it, meaning return of merchandise, bad reputation for the company, angry customers, loss of jobs, etc… it’s like saying there’s no difference between lightning and lightning-bugs… to a dumbass maybe…lol
